I’ve had bad TMJ since 2009, so I spend a chunk of my time finding things that actually help (spoiler: often not one thing does -it needs to be a mix of approaches). A physical therapist taught me about how to use a peanut lacrosse ball to help relieve some of the pain in my head. The basic explanation is to lie down, take the ball and place it under your head, at the base of your skull, where you feel two pointy bits where your skull and neck meet. Put a rolled up towel under the ball and above your shoulders, so it doesn’t roll, and lie for a minute or however long you can tolerate. I think the pressure is exquisite.
